More About The Studio

The Flick Five Films studio is one of the few full feature production studios in Central Oregon. Located off Boyd Acres, the studio is where most of our indoor scenes, voice-overs, video editing, motion graphics, and business meetings take place. The studio features a full head-to-toe green screen that enables us to isolate our subject from the background and composite in different virtual backdrops.

Two Fully Equip Mac Pro Edit Bays

The two Intel Mac Pro edit bays are the workhorses of the postproduction process. Both are link to a 16-terabyte Drobo raid system, which enables us to operate in a tapeless workflow efficiently and securely. Each of these edit bays have complete editions of both Apple's Final Cut Studio and Adobe CS5 software packages.

High Definition Cameras

Our video equipment is always constantly evolving so we can offer the best and latest in video technology. ex1side.jpg
The Sony PMW-EX1 has proven to be a huge asset to our company. This camera is equivalent to a full-blown ENG broadcast camera (except for the non-removable lens), and enables us to capture True High Definition video. The highlights of this camera are its larger 2/3 3-CCD sensor, variable frame rate capability, and professional audio hookups.

The hot new cameras in the video world are the latest video capable Canon DSLR cameras. We utilize two Canon 7Ds in combination with several fast lenses to capture amazing “film like” videos. Our camera inventory also includes several smaller more portable HD cameras for getting into tight and sometimes dangerous situations.

Camera Cranes, Jibs, steadycams and Dollies

Craneinpark 02.png
We love using our 22 foot crane, it is just too much fun. It enables us to get smooth cinematic shots. Not only does the long radius of our crane allow us to reach high and far, but it also produces a camera perspective of moving forward (instead of turning in circles). When a shot requires a small movement or lacks enough space, the crane breaks down into three smaller lengths. We also have two smaller cranes (called jibs) that are 4ft and 12ft long, which are lighter and more portable than their big brother. The dolly is another device to get smooth moving shots. Although it is a lot lighter and simpler than the crane, it still produces a unique and powerful look. Similar to the dolly, is the steadycam, a more portable handheld stabilizer. Here is a fun video that we got to show off how well the steadycam works while running.
